In yesterday’s comments about the Supreme Court vacancy I commented how politicians don’t care about people or our country beyond their own selfish crap.
So, this morning I am listening to an interview with Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah), one of the oldest and supposedly most respected members of the U.S. Senate. During the 5-minute long interview (the length of a geologic epoch by radio time), the interviewer repeatedly asked Mr. Hatch whether there is/are any circumstance(s) under which the Republican-controlled Senate would even consider an Obama nominee. Mr. Hatch then launched into a diatribe about how the Democrats had unfairly treated Republican nominees; mentioned the Robert Bourke nomination of a quarter century ago; even talked about historical events going back to 1916. What he never mentioned, not once, not ever, what is good for the country. The people of this country apparently matter less than politicians settling old scores or licking their ancient wounds.
And you wonder what is wrong with this country?
